Packaging requirements - help your package arrive safely

To avoid damage on your package, it is important to have good packaging. Your parcel is sent together with other heavier parcels and is handled by machines, much like the baggage carousel at an airport. This is how you help us get the package safely to the recipient.

What you're going to send determines how you need to pack

Soft packages (clothing, shoes, and textiles)

Fold the clothes into a waterproof bag. Place the bag in a small box or wrap it with a couple of plastic bags. Use a good amount of packing tape all the way around the package.

Fragile objects (glass, vases and porcelain)

Wrap each item separately with bubble wrap. Use a sturdy box that is slightly larger than the item so it doesn't touch the sides. Place bubble wrap on all sides around the object so that it is secure. Do the shake test and feel that the objects are not moving.

Technical equipment (PC, radio-controlled car, telephones)

Use a sturdy box that is slightly larger than the item so that it does not touch the sides. The entire item must be wrapped. Place bubble wrap, newspaper or old textiles on all sides around the object so that it is secure. Do the shake test and feel that the objects are not moving.

Furniture & Interior Items

Furniture can only be shipped with packaging, provided that it does not exceed the maximum permissible dimensions and weight of the package. It is very important that heavier items are stuck in the box, and do not move if you shake the box. We do not accept furniture without packaging.

Easy to-do list - how to pack

  1. Use a cardboard box that is slightly larger than the one you are going to send
  2. Roll the item in bubble wrap or newspaper
  3. Place bubble wrap and newspaper over, under and on the sides of the item
  4. Do the "shake test": check that the contents do not move when you shake the package
  5. Close the package tightly with proper packing tape

As the sender, you are responsible for ensuring that the package is sufficiently well packaged. The package must be able to be shaken and turned upside down and can withstand drops of up to 3 meters. You are not entitled to compensation in the event of damage if an item is not sufficiently well wrapped.

Reuse packaging

The packaging doesn't have to be new, reusing resources is a great thing to do for the environment. Save packaging from packages you have received in the past, and feel free to save on newspapers, bubble wrap and other things you can use when shipping. Here you can read more tips on how to reuse packaging.

It is not all items we can transport

We cannot accept items without packaging, or breakable items without transport packaging, as these items are very likely to be damaged during transport. It is also not allowed to send food, live plants and animals, or explosive substances and objects. See our complete list of what can't be shipped here.
